Poetry workshop with Erin Scott, 21st February, 1-2.30pm.

  • Jan 28
  • 1 min read

Join visiting poet Erin Scott for a workshop that dives into free verse poetry. Free verse is an open form of poetry that resists the structures of formal poetry such as rhyme, meter, and syllabics. Instead, it prioritizes the natural cadence of every day speech, creating vibrant poems for both the page and stage. In this workshop, Erin will present different examples of free verse poetry and guide the group in writing exercises. With time for reading the poetry aloud, participants will learn to pay attention to line breaks, metaphor, diction, and sound in order to foster their innate poetic voice. No past writing experience needed! Please bring a pen and paper and an eagerness to create.

Donations welcome.
