Culture
Many people travel far afield to experience different cultures. It is a surprise to many in Britain (even in Scotland) that all they have to do is take a ferry or plane across the Minch to the Western Isles to find a different culture within the UK. To many native islanders, their primary identity is as Gàidheil (Gaels) with Scottish being secondary. A distinctive cultural identity has evolved in Lewis, with deep roots going back hundreds and perhaps thousands of years. It is well worth seeking out that culture, and a community owned venue like Grinneabhat is an ideal way for visitors to gain an insight into island life.
